On February 12, 2025, Psy Salon San Diego gathered a full room of leaders to explore one of the most complex and consequential frontiers in modern wellness: the business of psychedelics. Hosted at Wise Castle, the session brought together 20 attendees, founders, operators, and practitioners, all arriving with the same question beneath the surface: How do we move this work forward responsibly?
The energy in the room reflected both curiosity and care. Psychedelics are no longer a fringe conversation, yet they remain deeply personal, legally complex, and culturally sensitive. This salon wasn’t about bold promises or shortcuts. It was about discernment.
The Core Insight: Trust Is the Real Infrastructure
A central theme of the evening came from Kyle Rosner of Reality Sandwich, who spoke candidly about the importance of safety and patient rights as the foundation of the psychedelic ecosystem.
Kyle emphasized that long-term success in this space won’t be driven by speed or scale alone, but by trust, trust built through ethical standards, informed consent, and a clear commitment to those engaging with these medicines. In an industry still earning its legitimacy, he made the case that standing firmly for consumer and patient protection isn’t a constraint, it’s a competitive advantage.
That perspective resonated strongly. The room understood that credibility, once lost, is nearly impossible to rebuild.
Integration Over Experience
Complementing this conversation was Ray Brejcha of PioneeringPathway.com, who spoke about integration, the often overlooked but essential work that follows a psychedelic experience.
Ray shared how he coaches leaders to approach these medicines intentionally, not as escape or enhancement, but as tools for insight, emotional regulation, and long-term stability. His message was clear: without proper integration, even powerful experiences can become disorienting or unproductive.
In leadership contexts, especially, integration is what transforms insight into action and action into meaningful change.
Honourable Mentions: Responsibility in Action
Several additional voices added depth and perspective to the evening. Diego Ugalde of Trident Approach shared his work supporting former special operations members as they transition back into civilian life, using structured integration practices to address trauma and identity shift.
Meanwhile, Kyle Hubert discussed his experience operating a Psychedelic Church, where cacao and psilocybin are held as sacrament. His reflections highlighted the spiritual and communal dimensions of this work and the responsibility required when guiding people through altered states within a ceremonial context.
Together, these perspectives reinforced a shared understanding: psychedelics demand leadership that is both courageous and careful.
Why Conversations Like This Matter
The Psy Salon wasn’t about consensus, it was about coherence. Bringing together diverse approaches under one roof allowed for nuance, challenge, and mutual respect. In a rapidly evolving field, these conversations help leaders slow down just enough to make better decisions.
